Blue Cross NC Asks Medicare Advantage Providers to Review Demographic Information

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is asking health care organizations participating in the Medicare Advantage (Blue MedicareSM) provider networks to update their organizations' demographic information. It's also important to update the demographic information for all Blue Medicare participating providers under your organization's terms of participation with Blue Cross NC.

Our members use our online directories to search for in-network providers, so it's important for us to have your most up-to-date information. Maintaining your demographic information also helps other providers make referrals and accurately direct their patients' care toward in-network practitioners and suppliers. And you'll help ensure receipt of payments and vital notices, and reduce the potential for delayed or denied payments resulting from outdated information.

For the third quarter of 2016, please take a minute to verify the information published in Blue Cross NC's online provider directories about your organization and its affiliated providers. Review your listing(s) located within the Find a Doctor tool on bcbsnc.com, and select from the following Medicare options:

• Find a Doctor or Facility
• Find a Dentist
• Find an Urgent Care Center

In addition to verifying your demographic information, we ask that you review and update:

• Whether or not the practice is accepting new patients
• Physical address
• Specialties of the providers affiliated within your organization

Please contact us as soon as possible to report inaccuracies in your listing(s). Please also contact us if your health care organization or a provider within your organization has:

• Changed names
• Been part of a merger or consolidation
• Moved
• Added or changed a National Provider Identifier or Federal Tax Identification Number

Changes and updates to providers' and health care organizations' demographic information can be made by completing this demographic form.
