Using GPT-o1 in Agents with GPTBlue

On Thursday this week, GPT-o1-preview was announced. We took the opportunity to run some tests. The outcome can be sensed in the title of this post. I just had to share our experience right away. It even affected tomorrow’s Boot Camp where we will talk about the impact of ‘o1’.

Open AI’s new GPT-o1 is a quantum leap

we have tested the new model and have been deeply impressed. The most impressive result came from the most challenging test: “probing its level of ingenuity”. The result was almost shocking. I can say flat out – this model can THINK and you will experience it when using GPT-o1 in GPTBlue Agents very soon.

Ingenuity Test

Test environment: We are building an Autonomous Innovation system, based on an award-winning innovation framework. We test ingenuity, creativity, and the level of disruption.

The Test: build a geothermal energy generator and get to the earth’s crust to a level where we have 500°C, the same heat that we have with nuclear power plants. This is at about 20 to 25 km depth.

  • The problem is that drilling that deep for many known physical limitations is impossible.

It took the ‘Think-Machina GPT o1’ only 2 prompts We gave it the above challenge.

With the first prompt, it failed to get to a disruptive solution. In a second prompt, we asked to question every condition to get there. The answer was a disruptive solution within 245 seconds in total. The key aspect of the result is below. It reads as if the model is surprised about its own discovery.

The Test
The task is to build a geothermal energy generator and get to the earth’s crust to a level where we have 500°C, the same heat that we have with nuclear power plants. This is at about 20 to 25 km depth.

In a second prompt, we ask to question every condition to get there
The answer was a disruptive solution within 245 seconds in total
The key aspect of the result is below
It reads as if the model is surprised about its own discovery.

GPT’s Answer:

Mind-Bending Aspect

By questioning the necessity of a vertical approach, we unlock a new paradigm for accessing deep geothermal energy:

  • Redefining “Depth”: Depth doesn’t have to be measured purely in vertical terms. By combining horizontal and inclined tunneling, we can reach the same geothermal horizons without the limitations imposed by vertical shafts.
  • Bringing Equipment to the Heat: Transporting steam turbines and other heavy machinery through inclined tunnels is more practical than lowering them down vertical shafts. This approach allows us to set up fully functional power generation facilities deep underground.
  • New Industrial Frontiers: Establishing underground facilities at such depths could revolutionize not only energy production but also mining, scientific research, and underground construction techniques.

Countless scientists could not get there and came up with bizarre futuristic concepts. After the above answer, we know it is feasible today. We already can drill over 50 km long Tunnels and 500°C is nothing for today’s steel tools.

GPT-o1 in the next GPTBlue Agents We will use GPT-o1-preview probably as early as next week within specific agents.

Human Intelligence Augmentation

The ability to create disruptive solutions with AI may be frightening to many people. But that was also true of the concept that a train could run at a ‘neck-breaking’ speed of about 20km/h (Adler in Nuremberg) on Dec 7, 1835. Everything thereafter is well-known history today.

Imagine for a moment you can create disruptive innovation on demand. However, you still want an innovation that fits your company, for your specific audience, solving a known problem, and finding a way to bring it to market. We humans do things based on purpose (Human Mind) there are reasons to do that (reasoning) there is a company that has the need to be innovative (company specific) and so forth. It needs a human who sets such a process in motion. Augmenting our human intelligence doesn’t mean WE get more intelligent but now that we have a crutch to solve problems that were impossible to solve before. We are not jealous of the train that can be faster than we can walk, or of an airplane that can fly and we cannot. Human ingenuity is this amazing gift to create tools for anything we can’t do ourselves, AUGMENTS our limited capabilities and make them almost limitless. Another area where GPT-o1 is a quantum leap.

Today, we begin augmenting our capability to think beyond our natural capacity.

Today, Human Intelligence Augmentation has become a reality. With that, our vision to create solutions, that allow us to do things that were impossible before, is amplified.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

AI Skills you may want to consider

This post was inspired by another post about learning Python, Data Science, and Math as the top skills of the future. In the past I believed the same — but that was at “GPT-2”-Time or for everybody else 2019. Today my list of skills to acquire is profoundly different:

– Neuroscience

We will deal with countless versions of AI and all have one in common, get as close to Human Intelligence as it can get. Is this a bad thing? Not at all.

I don’t think the farmers who made the first acre of corn about 12,000 years ago were angry about the person who developed the plow about a thousand years later. It allowed farmers to plant more corn much more easily. AI is the modern plow. Not to augment our muscle power but our brain power. The day one fully comprehends what that really means, changes everything — but only for that person. AI doesn’t change anything else but that. It’s YOU and everybody else who uses AI, who possibly changes a lot when using AI. But what do you need to know to be successful?

It is beneficial to understand some basics about how our brain works. Hence NEUROSCIENCE. Learn how cells connect. Learn how pre- and post-synaptic actions work and get inspired by how high-performance AI Agents could work in the same way. When we built our first Neuro-AI-Agents at BlueCallom, we left the digital 0|1 tech field and looked at how the brain does things like airplane builders know probably anything about any bird alive or dead. The human neural network, it’s conscious layers, it’s way to decode and encode information, and it’s speed far beyond electric signals is overwhelming. You don’t have to rebuild the brain to do great things with AI — but it helps find new ways to solve problems.

– Linguistic (neuro linguistic)

Understanding these magical Large Language Models requires a base understanding of Linguistics. And once you understand our highly structured and carefully shaped human language, you will understand why computer languages were crutches to get to what we call AI today — but that’s the end of a fantastic era I was born into.

The new programming language is called “Natural Language” aka Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Vietnamese… And a GPT system is the compiler for that language. If you know how language as a process works, you are ahead of the curve to craft powerful prompts. Always keep one thing in mind:

You ‘speak’ to the most knowledgeable ‘person’ or entity that ever roamed planet earth, knowing almost everything that we publicly learned and what ever was documented in history, in every school and university. And that thing can build relations between any event, discovery, situation, thing and person you are putting into your request.

To ask the right question with the right background, in the right context decides whether the answer meets your expectation or not. This is why Linguistic is a key to have good conversations with your AI — and that means excellent, comprehensive, yet compact prompts. It shaped our own learning to write prompts and inspired us to create a linguistics oriented prompt development system that allowed us to build million-dollar prompts. It’s also the reason why we now prefer natural language over computer language and why we create Neuro-AI-Agents with prompts and not python. Another learning:

A Large Language Models (LLMs) contains language snippets and relationships, not computer code. So we need to interface with natural language not code.

This is certainly a much larger effort in the beginning but resolving the complexity, linearity and rigid structure of business software cannot be resolved with yet another code development system.

– Other skills / talents to develop

– Common sense development – Abstract thinking – Critical Thinking – Ingenuity Development

It would exceed the scope of this post but they are all highly relevant when dealing with an AI. Develop a common sense to judge what makes sense and what does not. Every situation will be different and you need to think for yourself. Be able to abstract the important from the less important, true or false, and find the core among all parts. Nobody is perfect — that’s also true for the AI. Critical thinking is a must when dealing with an AI. No matter how ‘intelligent’ it appears. Ingenuity is the reason why we did not extinct. And maybe the reason why biological life can exist beyond the lifetime of our planet. AI cannot survive without us. But it can augment our intellectual ability — as long as we understand how to use it. Unfortunately, those talents are not — yet — taught at school or university but there is lots of knowledge out there and courses you can sign up for.

In nay case, the AI Skills you may want to consider are Neuroscience, Linguistics, Critical Thinking, Abstract Thinking, and ingenuity.

How did I end up with that skill set?

We know today that AI is so much better in Python than we ever will be. No-code systems will replace conventional coding for one reason: Natural Language is the new programming language. Hence, “Linguistic” is one of the two top items on my list. Same with math and data skills. Hence,  The AI Skills you may want to consider should include: “Neuroscience, Linguistics, Ingenuity, Critical Thinking, Common Sense, and Abstraction”.

Elevating the use of our brain

Today we have a choice to elevate the use of our brain, very much like we did when we developed the first complex tools like a plow and had the choice to use it at a farm about 12,000 years ago. Don’t get stuck on building ever better plows, build machines — that was what we did around 1765 when we mass-produced fabric for the first time.

Forget building better software for an AI — Create better thinking by leveraging AI to a degree that allows us to get rid of the many boring repeating tasks. Don’t get stuck with better coding, augment your intelligence — and crack into an AI with your amazing Prompts and Agents that is key in 2025 and already today.

Engineering is a skill for building a technology. But now we are using technology to solve problems with our brain and the help of AI. AI Skills you may want to consider for that seem to be neither coding nor engineering but an understanding of language and how we shape thoughts and process them.  The challenge of those who write prompts and agents for others is not coding – but understanding what questions they may have, what domain expertise they have and how to make a leap in business efficiency and productivity.

Human Intelligence Augmentation

The term ‘Human Intelligence Augmentation’ was coined by Douglas Engelbart in the 1960’s. Only today we can make his vision a reality, which is part of our mission at BlueCallom.

It doesn’t make you more intelligent — like the plow didn’t grow your muscles. But it augments your intelligence to a degree that is almost incomprehensible today. We created an innovation process that helped us develop six true breakthrough innovations over two weekends and were rewarded with the German Innovations Award 2024.

We built a single prompt to assess an enterprise ESG Report in 10 seconds, which took a week to be carefully assessed manually by a human. Does it kill jobs? No, but we, who built that prompt, may be seen as a job killer. So what about freeing jobs for more intelligent work? There are an estimated 100,000 problems on Earth that are too complex to solve, how about taking those on instead? Crafting prompts and agents to solve problems is a huge task. It needs the skills we talked about above. And most people use ChatGPT only as a Google search replacement.

Last but not least, there is a new thing called the Gen-AI Economy. Learn all about it: business Models, Financing, scaling, payments, and recurring revenues in the Gen-AI space.

Learning how to leverage linguistics to get more out of a conversation with an LLM and learning a bit from neuroscience about how to build powerful AI-Agents is the task at hand. To do that we are working on a Gen-AI Academy concept and wonder if you have any inputs?

What skills do you see relevant to make a career over the next 40–100 years assuming you reach the age of 130 — which is a good probability?

Recurring Revenue for Prompt Authors – Prompt authors now determine their own price
Autosave feature – BlueCallom Prompt studio follows user suggestions.

BLUE PROMPTS (STRATEGIC TECHNOLOGY)

GPTBlue Update April 2024.1As you know, we see prompts becoming the most strategic Mind-Machine-Connectors. As such it became a strategic Technology at BlueCallom. Prompts are the foundation for Neuro-AI-Fusion and the smallest common denominator in a business task.

Some prompt objects in BlueCallom are unique to our platform. For instance, you can edit the response of the GPT system. This is currently only possible in BlueCallom. Over time we see many more of those enhancements. To make it more visible and also make clear that those prompt objects would not work on a Chat system like ChatGPT, we flag those objects as “BluePrompt Objects” and flag the prompts as BluePrompt. You can see them in the library with the little brain icon in your personal library.
The unique BluePrompt features include:
– Function Calling
– Custom Models
– Iterative Prompts
– Data Handling
As we advance with our technology we will add further intelligent prompt objects.
Already in the next few weeks, we will add “Expiring Prompts”, “Prompt Tags” and “Fixed Data Prompts”. Later this year you will get a series of far more complex BluePrompts for more sophisticated tasks.
KEY BENEFITS
1) You get additional power from BluePrompts that is not available by only using a chat system
2) You still have the underlying power of Open AI’s GPT model which we are using
3) The BluePrompt Architecture is designed so that your data will never be stored at any LLM

PROMPT IP PROTECTION & OPEN-SOURCE
(STRATEGIC TECHNOLOGY)

GPTBlue Update April 2024.1Prompts get sold for pennies by the hundreds. This is great to start but not a sustainable model for high-quality business prompts. At BlueCallom no prompt will be visible to the end user unless the Prompt Author decides to make it available as Open-Source Prompt. When you started with BlueCallom GPTBlue, all prompts were protected, you could share it with anybody by simply deploying the prompt on a public library or share it individually. So your Prompt IP was protected from day one.

As of today, you can make prompts Open-Source. This is not just great for collaboration with more people, but also help your clients understand how prompts get designed and inspire them to more sophisticated prompts. Moreover, you can share open-source prompts to show people what it takes to make high-performance, high-productivity prompts. Such an insight will put the build or buy question in a whole new light.

From our own experience, one of the most sophisticated prompts we built was for a financial services organization and it saves them approximately €15 to 20 Million each year. Four people including a high caliber financial industry consultant worked for three days on eight different prompts that had been combined into one. Our IP is protected and pricing had to be quite different.

Another experience was during the last three GPTBlue Boot Camps. Attendees needed to know what is inside the prompts we shared and the sharing was cumbersome. Now we can share those prompts as open Source and the can use it right away to learn from.
KEY BENEFITS
1) The IP protection is an obvious value. Not only for Prompt Authors but also for any organization as the prompt content is only known to a small group of prompt authors. The internal IT data security risk is still very present.
2) The Option to make a controlled Open Source version of prompts, is a great benefit when content shall be shared, used for education, or collaboration.

INTELLIGENT PROMPT DISTRIBUTION
(STRATEGIC TECHNOLOGY)

Intelligent Prompt PackageAnother strategic technology we are introducing in GPTBlue Update April 2024/1, is “Intelligent Prompts”. With this new release, you distribute prompts with a unique URL. With that, the prompt carries the author’s name and the user status with it. That way a user, who “finds” such a prompt in the public can execute it. Those prompts are by default protected so nobody can see the inner workings of your prompt. Yet the author will know that a new user uses the prompt and will be paid its commission.
Moreover, if a person who is not yet a user finds such a prompt and activates their new account, the referral key is also activated so the author gets a referral fee and the new users an additional bonus.
Imagine you create prompts and share them freely on the Internet. As soon as somebody likes it and uses it, not only you get the commission for the use, you also meet your customer digitally. And the user can provide feedback that will be routed to you, no matter how many partners or people may have been in between that transaction.
KEY BENEFITS
1) You can now share any prompt on the internet and will be paid for any execution of that prompt.
2) The new intelligent prompt distribution is for Open Source prompts as well as IP Protected Prompts.

BlueCallom IO
AVERAGE PROMPT COST and ACTUAL PROMPT COST

GPTBlue Update April 2024.1In the GPTBlue Update April 2024.1 release, users will see an average prompt cost based on the prompt cost history. That way the user will know the approximate cost before they start it. Some of our more complex prompts, when using our internal Function Calls cost already ~5,000 coins, which is €1.50 without any premium.
With this new step – we make another leap in prompt cost transparency.

More Prompt Cost Transparency
Creating a prompt is no rocket science. On the other hand just slapping together some questions won’t do the Generative AI  justice. The perceived savings of millions of Euro/Dollar/Franks does not quite come for free, but still with an instant ROI.
Prompt Authors in particular the most creative ones won’t be able to do prompts for pennies and cents.
KEY BENEFITS
1) You won’t be surprised by the cost of the prompt execution. And as prompts will soon make quite some leaps in cost, it is important to have that cost under control.
2) As prompt cost will rise with the significant quality improvements prompt analytics will need data that we deliver.

BlueCallom Studio
RECURRING REVENUE FOR PROMPT AUTHORS

Another cool feature of the GPTBlue Update April 2024.1 release is the ability of prompt authors to set a premium for their development work. That premium is paid every time a prompt is executed. Obviously those prompts are not kitchen recopies or email text writer prompts but those who develop complete business models, making a sound cashflow analysis, interacting with CRM or ERP systems and more. Usually it even takes some BluePrompts to make the function work so that customers pay the premium. At present the premium is between 1 cent and €/CHF 1,500 or equivalent currency.
The beauty of all those prompts is the ability to calculate the prompt productivity. The calculation is still the same. An estimated time the manual task would take of the 10 seconds for running the prompt and maybe a minute or two to fill in the required content.
KEY BENEFITS
1) Prompt Authors won’t need to “sell” their prompts but make them available in a pay-per-use model
2) Prompt Consumers won’t need to sign up for system subscriptions but only pay as they use it and gain productivity
3) Companies won’t need to go for complicated budget planning as a prompt must deliver an instant ROI and can be measured and compared with the cost
4) In this circular economy on the digital front, Prompt Authors are incentivized to maintain their prompts and increase their value over time. Moreover they get feedback from their users so they are so close to the market – like with no other product.

BlueCallom Studio
AUTOSAVE  FOR POWER PROMPTER

We received several requests from power users to make saving prompt objects easier. Thanks for the request and here is the new solution and already implemented in the current release:

When in the BlueCallom Studio, you can switch “Auto Save” at any time on or off.
When autosave is “ON”
No need to manually save any entry. It is saved automatically as soon as you leave the input field.
Suggestion: If you edit an important prompt, keep autosave OFF (see below).
When autosave is  “OFF”
You save the prompt title and description with a separate save button as this is not part of the actual prompt. Then you can select any of the Prompt Objects and save manually one after the other or all together or any variation.
When EDITING a prompt you may use “Reload Page” as an emergency exit for when you are not sure whether all the changes you made are really good or you where distracted. The changes are only saved when you hit “save”.
KEY BENEFITS
1) You wanted it we built it – this is probably the biggest benefit
2) Now you know we listen and respond – and we will try very hard to keep it that way.

The next update GPTBlue Update April 2024.1 is already around the corner 🙂
Those who join the upcoming GPTBlue Boot Camp will see the Roadmap for 2024
GPTBlue Update April 2024.1

Thanks you all. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. Feel free to post your response here in the comments.

What is better?

Sorry, there is no better. They are just different. Both use the same OpenAI large Language model.
The key question is: Do you prompt for yourself or do you create prompts for others in a business environment”?

ChatGPT

When you write prompts for yourself, you may prefer ChatGPT.
Why? it’s quick and you polish it until the results are good for you.

  • Your prompt library is a long list accessible only to you.

GPTBlue

When you create prompts for others, you may prefer GPTBlue.
Why? It’s usually in a business environment, where you compose prompts for others.

  • Productivity gain must be visible and measurable.
  • Prompt Composition allows us to develop unique prompt features.
  • Library networks are key in larger organizations. It’s part of GPTBlue today.
  • Partner integration and productivity induction is becoming a strategic advantage.
  • Analytics will help you and your users better understand the performance.
  • Business Model allows prompt designers to sell the prompts with recurring revenue.
  • Future Evolution looks like prompts will evolve into entire applications.

ChatGPT versus GPTBlue

It boils down to prompting for yourself or designing them for others as profession.

ChatGPT versus GPTBlue Architecture

GPTBlue is leveraging the Open AI Large Language Model (LLM) and its, Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT). The value-add comes from an AI-Native application that sits on top of it. The prompt framing architecture frames the prompt functionality given by the LLM but allows additional prompt design features on top of it. The prompt composer

GPTBlue AI Network

Now, here GPTBlue goes really crazy. Based on the needs of some very large customers we developed a unique Gen AI Application Network. It started with the question how can we better deal with the rapid proliferation of prompts where nobody knows who has them, who wrote them and are they productive? A multi library network was a starting point. Rules for certain prompts to deploy to specific libraries only. The integration of business partners was next. It ended up with thousands of users, hundreds of libraries, central observation and decentral management. You will find more in our case study, available Beginning of March.

Because we are a highly productive AI company, we have far more time for our customers 🙂

About exactly a year ago, I discussed with somebody who stated that prompts will go away when the AI becomes much smarter. He was very certain. It is definitely a possible outcome, why not? The capabilities of AI will rise beyond today’s imagination. And we already have AI-Prompts wireless straight into the brain

Will AI be so intelligent that prompts go away?

I was thinking about that possibility every once in a while. At the same time, we developed ever more complex prompts. Moreover, we developed tools to create the much-needed high-performing and highly productive prompts that Generative AI can create. While I saw the prompt business rise, I also saw the first signs of frustration. The generative AI didn’t deliver. It hallucinated. The results were not accurate enough. And countless other arguments. But when looking very carefully at the prompts it was more like a red flag that said already 100 years ago “GARBAGE IN – GARBAGE OUT’. It was the point when I believed that AI should indeed get smarter.

A bit of history. The first time I played with a Large Language Model was already about 50 years ago. I had a fascinating dialog with ELIZA, written by Joseph Weizenbaum. I must admit I couldn’t grasp the concept of the LLM part. But Garbage In garbage out was a very well-known issue. 🙂 So didn’t we learn anything? Oh yes, we did – more than most can imagine even today. Because the quantum leap wasn’t even developed – it just happened in front of our eyes without notice.

AI-Prompts wireless straight into the brain

When I brought up with friends that we have “AI-Prompts wireless straight into the brain”,  they were shocked. And when I demonstrated this new technology some went pale. This direct connection allowed us to go straight into the other person’s brain and they could not do anything about it. It didn’t need wires, buttons on the scull, drugs, or anything like that. The direct connection worked with light or acoustic waves. OK – don’t kill yourself. This technique is more than 12,000 years old as our language matured.

When a baby cries you hear it and you can’t stop your brain from recognizing it. Acoustic signals are just there as they arise. When you see signs, especially text it will trigger your brain immediately – whether you like it or not. You read what I wrote here, and these light waves from the screen enter your brain until you decide you stop reading. On the contrary, when you speak to me or write to me, you reach my brain with the same brutally simple method.

And that is what we are using as straight and direct into an AI as well. I hope you recovered from the initial shock. With this foundational understanding of how our brain can communicate we can begin to understand the strategic importance of a prompt as we can send it and receive answers from the artificial brain that has neural functions very similar to ours. That powerful direct communication was never possible before – and it is the PROMPT that makes it so versatile.

PROMPT – The most strategic connection between mind and machine

AI-Prompts wireless straight into the brainIt is not the AI that needs the prompt or must get better with prompts. It is the human mind that needs to articulate what it really wants. Hundreds of thousands of books are written about success, career development, gaining happiness, and self-fulfillment… yet, the connection between the written word didn’t help even though many of those books offer great recipes. The reason is that most people cannot articulate just for themselves what they want. The same happens in business.

Removing all internal roadblocks

Envision a company with 1,000 employees. That company could probably gather 2,000 suggestions to optimize the organization and make amazing gains in productivity. But to figure out what are all those tiny, needy gritty things that just don’t work so well, it takes 2,000 perfectly articulated suggestions, ways to craft summaries, and then start solving them. NOW – IMAGINE PROMPTS can be structured to fill in the blanks, laser-sharp focus on the details, help the users to articulate a challenge, and iterate over it to improve the content. That is possible already today.

Driving Productivity

AI-Prompts wireless straight into the brain

167 x Productivity gain

Generative AI is said to be the most powerful tool in driving productivity. Is it really? Who has measured it? How can you measure it?  The answers were very success-relevant for ourselves and we did not trust any statistic other than what we could measure ourselves. So we created a very primitive but very efficient tool to do so: We know that a prompt takes on average 5 minutes to complete. That is 355 seconds to think about the answer or request and 5 seconds for the AI to respond. We also know that delegating a task is the number one key to getting things done through others. Yet you still need to carefully think about what you want. A research task for instance may take a week but 1/2 day continuous work. We focused on prompt productivity from day one. We did not use any prompts that didn’t provide at least a 10x productivity gain and most were in the range between 100 to over 1,000x  Our “productivity Meter” made it to our new version GPTBlue. Every single prompt can be measured by every user – not a statistic somebody wrote. And we will publicize the grand average across all prompts without having any source to protect the privacy of our users.

Prompt Development and Neuroscience

During our work on Neuro-AI-Fusion, when developing a system to help create breakthrough innovations on demand, we needed to understand how the brain is stimulated, how it can dive deeper into a topic rather than just firing a fast response, and so forth, we had to build 128 highly sophisticated Neuro-Prompts. Now we open up this can of worms for everybody. 🙂 Only together we can improve our Mind-Machine-API. Access to our brain is much easier than we think and we should use it as we can learn on steroids. For instance, it took me 2 hours to get an understanding of quantum entanglement to form a concept of quantum communication – no I have no physics degree and probably a very normal IQ at best. Like many, I don’t want to know my IQ because I fear it is way below average. AI-Prompts wireless straight into the brain is no myth and no magic. It is done through nature’s best and most sophisticated APIs: Ears, Eyes, and senses to manage a keyboard and a mouse.

The Prompt Value

The prompt is like your CV when applying for a job. Sloppy or well-written. With some background or a compelling story that no hiring manager can ignore.  Sharing what you together with your team achieved or just what you did day in and day out. Top CV writers make a fortune and so do top Prompt engineers.

Prompts are for humans
not for the AI

Prompts will not go away. Prompts exist to give everybody access to leverage the power of generative AI no matter what your background or education is.

Prompt Engineers are the next-generation software developer. Prompts will get extremely sophisticated in the next 24 months and we see it every day in our work. Function Calls, Custom Models, Specific Prompt Structures, Prompt Clustering, Prompt-based Business Applications, Prompt KPI Frameworks, Prompt Transport networks, New Business Models, prompts driving edge computing and so-called agents.

2023: The Year of Generative AI and the Dawn of a New Software Development Era

In 2023, Generative AI marked a significant milestone in AI’s evolution, with an impressive user base of around 200 million on ChatGPT alone. This year symbolizes the inception of a new era in software development, transcending the earlier transition from on-premise software to Software as a Service (SaaS). AI is not just altering the software delivery model; it’s reshaping the very foundations of software design. What began in AI consumer software is transforming business software in 2024, signaling a new software paradigm.

The Challenge with Conventional Business Software

The complexity of business software, especially in larger organizations, has reached a point of critical reflection. Many executives and board members express concerns about its evolution over the next decade. The appetite for “monster software” investments is waning. The business world, including mid-sized and small enterprises, is in dire need of simpler, faster, and less complex tools.

The Future of Business Software – a significant deviation.

Today, AI, particularly Generative AI, appears as the logical solution to remove complexity. However, it’s not about replacing one type of software with another. It’s about understanding the unique capabilities of Generative AI. Unlike conventional software, designed in a sequential linear fashion, our brains operate differently. Our Neuro-AI-Fusion model was developed to mirror the human brain’s creativity and ingenuity. This approach has enabled teams to generate disruptive innovations in weeks instead of months, potentially revolutionizing software development itself.

On January 29/30, 2024, we’re excited to introduce Neuro-AI-Fusion to Prompt Engineers at our Prompt Engineering Boot Camp. We’re transforming PROMPTS into AI Components within BlueAICONs – easily connectable, replaceable, adjustable, and maintainable structures. These represent a radical departure from conventional software design, evolving into an AI Application Network accessible to all employees, regardless of technical expertise.

Introducing GPTBlue: The Core of AI Components

At the heart of AI Components is the PROMPT – the crucial element for AI understanding and execution. Developing, testing, and deployment cycles are key to creating effective prompts. GPTBlue, our professional Prompt Management System, caters to these evolving professional requirements. Imagine having the capability to personalize responses to social media posts rapidly or to intelligently sort through hundreds of job applications – all with a single prompt in GPTBlue.

Now – Think of Professional Social Media Support functions. We are having a way to comment on 50 posts within minutes with a post-specific and very personal touch. A post Comment Creator Prompt can do that. In our system, it is a single prompt.
Or think of your Talent Development Team, needing to review hundreds of job applications. Having a way of letting the AI do a first match and a smart ranking and rating instead of just a “go or no go” is of great help. Also, this is a single prompt created on GPTBlue. The Future of Business Software starts with GPTBlue from BlueCallom

We have developed nearly 100 powerful prompts, shared as source code for customization in GPTBlue. These prompts span various departments, offering significant efficiency and productivity boosts.

To make it easy for any starter, we crafted approximately 10 Delta Prompts for every typical department we came across. We classify prompts into different groups. For instance, A DELTA PROMPT is a powerful prompt that makes a difference and specifically increases efficiency and productivity.

Developing Your Own DELTA PROMPTS with GPTBlue

GPTBlue DTD is our development, testing, and deployment engine for crafting powerful prompts. This new approach to AI application development is suitable for enterprises and small businesses alike. BlueAICON Prompts can be shared electronically, simplifying the process for end-users who receive tailored, case-specific results.

The Future of Business Software starts with GPTBlue from BlueCallom DTD

A New Era of Professional Prompt Engineering, Testing, and Deployment

Consider a business scenario where GPTBlue PFD-Stations (Prompt Framing Designer) are used internally and by external partners. These powerful prompts can be customized for different markets or business needs. With version control, history management, and other features, GPTBlue PFD is a comprehensive tool for prompt development and management.

The Future of Business Software starts with BlueCalloms GPTBlues Network

The GPTBlue PFD (Prompt Framing Designer) is the heart of prompt development. However, larger organizations with country offices, departments, business units, and possibly external business partners need a far more organized way of generating, releasing, and deploying Prompt or AI applications.

BlueCallom’s GPTBlue Network Architecture was developed to serve large enterprises and networked sales channels. The end users in departments or partners around the world don’t need any training, A BlueAICON will deliver its own help and support info as part of the prompt to the user. A sophisticated billing system is integrated into the corporate deployment network so departments can be charged individually based on the usage of the AI system which is part of the overall cost.

The Future of BlueAICON

BlueAICONs represent a sophisticated level of prompts, functioning as AI Components Over Networks. These include supportive information, visual aids, and user rights, and can act as Edge Computing Clients. Our focus on leveraging edge computing will be a significant aspect of our future developments.

Partnering with Professional Prompt Engineers and Consultants

Partner with BlueCallomThrough BlueCallom’s Business Partner Program, businesses of all sizes can harness the power of the GPTBlue series. This includes developing professional prompts, deploying them to customers, and offering support and maintenance services.

Regaining control of an enterprise

The complexity of modern organizations seems to have surpassed human capacity. Too often, innovation is hamstrung by the need to address legacy issues before embarking on new initiatives. The symbiosis between the human mind and artificial intelligence opens new windows every day. But to capture the opportunity we have to step out of the door. Those, not willing to invest in genuine breakthrough innovation may as well restructure their inner workings first. The learning from that process may open the floodgate for AI-driven Innovation much easier.

Overwhelming Complexity

We’ve realized that the multitude of small issues in organizations isn’t the core problem; rather, it’s the intricate web of connections between these issues that has become a monstrous challenge. In a typical structure of an organization with 1,000 employees and 25 departments, about 50,000 tasks range from mundane to highly demanding. The interconnectivity of these tasks creates over 500,000 potential interaction points, leading to a complexity beyond our conventional comprehension. This reality forces us to reconsider our approach to organizational control.

The Role of AI in Managing Complexity

Humanity has a history of developing tools to extend our capabilities. With the advent of AI, we’ve reached a point where managing sustainability and breakthrough innovation requires acknowledging the complex challenges that exceed our capabilities. AI’s role in this scenario is crucial. AI systems, like OpenAI, augmented by domain expertise, demonstrate that AI can be a pivotal tool in managing complexity unlike any other. At BlueCallom, our experience with AI has shown us that a Generative AI, focused on specific tasks, can significantly transform business processes.

The Need for a Holistic Approach

The most significant challenge for management in regaining control is moving away from patchwork solutions. Transformation is a holistic process, not a series of incremental changes. AI-based transformation strategies can offer a comprehensive approach to managing an enterprise. Starting with clear objectives, the AI system can develop robust strategies and plans, focusing on well-defined outcomes. The key is comprehensive data – the lack of which is akin to illiteracy in today’s digital age.

AI-Driven Transformation and Human Synergy

AI’s ability to compute objectives, data, and outcomes in seconds, coupled with its capacity to assess numerous options tirelessly, lays a solid foundation for regaining control of an enterprise. However, effective transformation also requires upskilled teams capable of communicating with AI systems in a logical, structured manner. BlueCallom TRANSFORM enables teams to navigate through corporate complexity, fostering a unique synergy between human and digital intelligence. TRANSFORMATION, when used in a systemic and now AI-driven process can be conducted within 6 months. The reason for that bold statement is that AI won’t implement hard core change from one state to another assuming that thousands of employees just get trained and continue but involves a seamless and guided process.

Conclusion

The integration of AI into business processes is not just an efficiency enhancer; it’s a growth enabler. Organizations leveraging AI will have a distinct advantage over those that don’t. At BlueCallom, we are driving that process diligently and a relentless timing. AI and human intelligence work in tandem to create extraordinary results in enterprise management. The synergy of mind and machine is more than any one of it alone. In support of that concept we don’t even need to protect humanity from an AI, like we don’t protect humanity from a crane because it can lift more, or an airplane because it can fly.

Swiss Innovation Forum

On Nov. 30, we will demonstrate the technology on the Swiss Innovation Forum in Basel (Switzerland)

For those who want to experience superhuman intelligence should join the challenge we are having on the conference floor, where you play with some of the brightest minds in the first BlueCallom Superhuman Challenge. First Open AI Dev DayGreetings from San Francisco

Remember ChatGPT is not even a year old today. On Nov. 30 we will celebrate the 1st Birthday of Chat GPT and the 1st Birthday of BlueCallom.AI. Quite a conference and tons of news. First things first. Open AI is just running like hell. With 100 Million active users plus those who tried it at least once, I estimate roughly a billion people who tried it out at least once. ChatGPT is a term that doesn’t need an explanation anywhere in the world.

GPT-4 Turbo.

01 MUCH LARGER PROMPTS

One big step forward is the capacity to write bigger prompts, now 128,000 tokens. That allows more sophisticated tasks for solving more complex requests. Is this really important? Yes, we repeatedly saw error messages that our prompts were too complex and we should separate them into multiple prompts. This will be our favorite new feature.

02 MORE CONTROL

JSON MODE. This is more for AI developers but a huge enhancement in working with precise data. So you can use a SEED parameter to get reproducible outputs.

03 APRIL 23 DATA

The next GPT version is trained up to April 2023, is much faster, and has a much better way of processing custom instructions.

04 VOICE IMPROVEMENTS

Voice output has improved significantly and you can select from 6 different voice types. You can talk to our AI Application Guide, Mentoha, today but the voice will improve soon according to the new availability.

05 CUSTOM MODELS

For users with small or proprietary data models. This will make many of our customers with very individual data sets very happy :). This will be not be widely available as the cost is high and the effort is big, but for those who really need it, could be a breakthrough.

06 NEW RATE LIMIT MANAGEMENT

Generally rate limits can be expanded and rates go down. For complex process calculations like in our Innovation or Transformation Processes, it makes a huge difference. GPT-4 Turbo

07 GPT BUILDER

You can now build custom chatbots within ChatGPT. All you need to do is to “call” the GPT builder and it will set up some custom instructions for you. You configure your new GPT to use tools, read documents to review, and much more. Finally, you can test it before you let it loose and go live.

08 DATA PRIVACY

An important message was reiterated by Sam Altman “We never train our models on API data“. BlueCallom has developed an individual direct GPT access through the API so even quick questions that would be asked via ChatGPT are no excluded from training data and not be used by OpenAI at all.

I guess those are the most relevant news from the OpenAI Dev Day

Human Intelligence Augmentation

Human Intelligence Augmentation (HIA): The Future of Human-Machine Collaboration

The Dawn of HIA In 1961, Douglas Engelbart introduced the world to Human Intelligence Augmentation (HIA). Instead of technology replacing humans, Engelbart envisioned a symbiotic relationship, where machines would amplify our capabilities. While the technology of the time couldn’t fully realize this vision, today, we stand on the verge of Engelbart’s dream.

The Essence of Intelligence Historically, intelligence was viewed as our ability to acquire and apply knowledge. Today, our understanding is more nuanced; intelligence is multi-faceted, encompassing logical reasoning, creativity, emotional intuition, and more. While humans possess unparalleled creative problem-solving abilities, our capacity to handle hyper-complex problems is limited. On the other hand, AI excels at processing vast amounts of data efficiently, free from human fatigue and biases. But AI lacks understanding, empathy, and purpose-driven context. The solution? A collaborative approach, maximizing the strengths of both humans and AI, holds the key to untapped potential. In all of human history, homo sapiens turned out to be a master in building tools to overcome virtually any physical deficiency. Humans can’t lift tons of weight, so we created a crane. Humans can’t run at 100 km/h to get fast from A to B. So, we built cars after we created wagons pulled by horses. We cannot easily comprehend what is involved in creating breakthrough innovations, so we built computer software that can help us think through any aspect of the process. Today, we are at a point where, with the help of AI, not only can almost everybody do that task, but we can do it in a few weeks instead of needing a year or two. The Future of Mind-Machine Collaboration starts today.

Unleashing HIA’s Potential Several technologies are pushing the boundaries of HIA. Among these is Neuro-AI-Fusion, which leverages insights from neuroscience to activate brain triggers, enhancing human thinking. We’re also seeing advancements in Generative AI and Large Language Models, enabling a higher level of creativity and processing capabilities. Remember, the AI tools that are transforming industries today are augmentations of our abilities, just like vehicles or cranes have been in the past. As we gaze into the future, HIA promises innovations in record times, individualized learning experiences, and solutions to massive challenges like space colonization or environmental crises.

HIA in the Business Sphere The business landscape is changing, with a demand for rapid innovation and a growing skills gap. HIA has the potential to revolutionize this sector. For instance, managers can simulate decision outcomes akin to crash testing in vehicles. Moreover, with HIA, businesses can offer personalized customer experiences, optimize human resources, and foresee supply chain disruptions, giving them an unparalleled competitive edge. The era of raw data reliance is fading; businesses will soon harness the blend of human insight and AI precision. This blend is already realized today when predicting innovation success probability.

World’s first HIA application  A very timely example is the challenge of getting AI into all areas of a business to reduce the workload where employees are not best qualified and delegate those tasks to machines. The time gain allows everybody to do more creative work and increase productivity by an order of magnitude. In a way, everybody will become a manager, managing machines by delegating all kinds of work like research, report writing, documentation, review processes, validations, and much more to AI-driven systems. Such an AI Adoption Project may have taken one to three years in large global enterprises. Today, BlueCallom ADOPT helps teams manage the execution of such a project in a few weeks and delivers a magnificent outcome that is almost guaranteed. It is the first genuine Human Intelligence Augmentation solution leveraging Neuro-AI-fusion for direct brain access without touching the person. The Future of Mind-Machine Collaboration is now a reality.

HIA: Transforming Education Education disparities exist globally, with many facing unequal access to quality learning. HIA offers solutions: adaptive learning platforms, augmented reality tools for remote education, and AI-driven materials tailored to various cultural and linguistic backgrounds. HIA tools can bridge expertise gaps in specialized fields through simulated learning environments, AI-driven expert systems, and collective problem-solving platforms.

HIA: Rise of Super Humans  Even though HIA does not touch the brain or involve any medical or other modulations, it gives humans superpowers relative to anybody else. It allows individuals and teams to do things in a fraction of the time or reach ideas that are just not possible with brainstorming or other methods. Again, the first people who drove a car could span distances nobody else could before. Or people could fly what was impossible even to imagine before the inception of the first planes.  Mind-machine collaboration is now on its long journey to a world unimaginable for most of us.

In Conclusion  HIA isn’t about machines replacing humans or keeping us occupied in a technology-dominated age. It’s about embracing technology to enhance human abilities and forging a collaborative future. Through HIA, we’re charting a path to a future where humans are more insightful, connected, and capable. Embracing this collaboration doesn’t just redefine our work or learning; it reshapes our very essence in a digital age. As we venture into this intertwined future, we have to realize that HIA  is not a way to protect humans from machines; it is all about giving humans yet another power tool to do things that we cannot do with our abilities. But this time, it isn’t augmenting our muscle power but our brain power.  Hence our saying: AI is not replacing people, but people using AI will displace people who don’t. You have very, very limited chances to become a manager if you can’t read or write. The next generation, leveraging Human Intelligence Augmentation, will displace anybody without exception.

Meet the Mind-Machine Collaboration Human Intelligence Augmentation is here today and is demonstrated on Nov 30th at the Swiss Innovation Forum in Basel. You will be able to have a first live HIA experience at our booth by solving a complex problem within 180 seconds. You will become a Super Human for a few minutes without anybody touching you – it will blow your mind. Make sure you register for a time slot. The event is only one day !!!

Future of work in the era of AI

AI-driven Innovation Paradigm Shift II

As the era of AI unfolds, there’s an increasing discourse around job losses, with many fearing machines might render humans obsolete. However, a nuanced perspective indicates that AI is not directly replacing jobs but’s revolutionizing them. Professionals armed with AI tools are set to outpace their peers who rely on traditional methodologies. So it’s not AI that replaces jobs but people who use AI. Here’s how:

1) Marketing Plans
Imagine a world where creating a comprehensive marketing plan is as quick as making your morning coffee. AI can be fed parameters such as target demographics, budget constraints, and company goals. Within the hour, one might receive a detailed marketing strategy. This includes research-backed insights, potential outreach channels, predicted outcomes, and even content suggestions. While humans are pivotal in feeding contextual details and verifying the plan’s alignment, AI dramatically shortens the time and effort involved, turning a week’s task into merely an hour’s.
The human role: Let the AI know what YOU want in that marketing plan and what constraints YOU want to give the AI. Without intelligent input, neither a machine nor another human can perform that task.

2) White Papers
Once considered a tedious, time-consuming task, white papers can be made efficient with AI. Researchers or marketing professionals provide AI with a theme, objectives, and a few essential details. The system, equipped with access to countless databases and research journals, drafts a white paper complete with research references, infographics, and a well-structured narrative. The human role evolves from tedious drafting to primarily conceptualizing and verifying, cutting the production time from days to hours.
The human role: Let the AI know what YOU want to communicate for an audience that YOU specify. Also here: without meaningful inputs, neither a machine nor another human can perform that task.

3) Product Description
For companies with a vast array of products, writing and updating product descriptions can be daunting. With AI, a product’s raw data – size, features, benefits, price, and images – can be input. The AI then crafts compelling, SEO-optimized product descriptions in minutes. This not only standardizes the quality but exponentially speeds up the process, allowing businesses to launch products faster and adapt to market changes swiftly.
The human role: YOU give the AI the PURPOSE and it will do the work accordingly.

4) Event Landing Page
Event managers and organizers can breathe easy. When tasked with creating a landing page for an event, AI can assist in designing, scripting, and even optimizing for conversions. By simply feeding the system event details, target audience specifics, and desired outcomes, AI can craft a visually appealing, content-rich, and user-friendly landing page. Instead of laboring over design and content iterations, humans can now focus on strategy, outreach, and making the event a success.
The human role: Have the idea you want a landing page.

5) Training Class Presentation
Training modules can be made more engaging with AI. Trainers provide the core content and desired outcomes. AI can create a dynamic presentation complete with visuals, case studies, interactive elements, and even quiz sections. This ensures consistent quality, aids in better knowledge retention, and most importantly, lets trainers focus on delivering the content rather than the intricacies of presentation design.
The human role: Understand that a training class presentation is needed and YOU tell the AI how it should be done.

6) Legal Document Review
Legal professionals often spend hours reviewing contracts and legal documents. AI can analyze these in minutes, highlighting discrepancies, potential risks, and areas of concern. Lawyers can then concentrate on strategy and counsel rather than the tedious task of document analysis.
The human role: Review and validate the AI output rather than do the digging and searching yourself.

7) Personalized Learning Paths in Education
Educators can leverage AI to craft individualized learning plans for students. Based on a student’s performance, strengths, and weaknesses, AI suggests a tailored curriculum, ensuring more effective and adaptive learning experiences.
The human role: You get the idea: no matter what – Somebody needs to set it in motion

8) Real Estate Analysis
Real estate agents, with the aid of AI, can provide clients with comprehensive property analyses in record time. By entering property details, AI can predict market value, estimate renovation costs, and even suggest optimal selling periods.
The human role: Same here  – set it in motion

9) Fashion Design
Fashion designers can introduce AI into their creative process. By feeding current trends, preferred fabrics, and desired outcomes, AI can generate design sketches, patterns, and even predict market reception, allowing designers to be trendsetters at an unprecedented pace.
The human role: And here  – set it in motion

10) Film and Video Editing
Film editors can provide AI with raw footage, desired mood, and thematic elements. The system can then generate a rough edit, dramatically speeding up post-production timelines. This ensures quicker releases and lets filmmakers focus on storytelling nuances.

The consistent thread across these transformations is the paradigm shift from manual to collaborative intelligence. As AI and humans collaborate, the boundaries of what’s possible expand, ushering in a future defined by efficiency, innovation, and unprecedented achievements.
The human role: And also here  – set it in motion

I guess you can now imagine that those 10 examples can be applied to thousands of jobs. If you can’t see it give it a try or ask Chat GPT or ask me.

What does it mean for you?

If you are in any office job, you will learn to become a manager, no matter what you do today. You will become the manager of your AI system and tells it what it should do for you. This may be writing a report, summarizing today’s calls, creating a document, making a plan, telling it to process information, asking it how you can do what you are supposed to do, ask it to teach you any task, find out how things work, and draw an image even if you can’t even draw a tree. As you advance, you ask the AI to create a presentation for you or your boss, or to create a video about any topic, or analyze a project, analyze a process, suggest a process and prepare every item that needs to be done to complete it. Probably half of your daily work will be done in 10 seconds for each piece plus the 5 minutes to explain it what you want. All you need to learn is to `tell it what you want and most importantly learn to know and say what you want. This new ability will pen op new job opportunities and remove barriers like “I’m not good at writing letters” or “I’m not good at drawing images” or “I’m not good at analyzing data”…

Addressing the Global Skills Shortage through AI

Use the team you have – but much smarter than ever before !!!

AI-driven Innovation Paradigm Shift II  delivers also a highly crucial aspect on employee quality. The global skills shortage, a pressing issue in today’s rapidly evolving job market, threatens economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness across nations. As industries advance and new specialties emerge, there’s a widening chasm between the skills available in the workforce and those in demand. While retraining and upskilling initiatives are paramount, they are not the sole solution, especially considering the urgency and scale of the issue. Enter Artificial Intelligence — not as a replacement for human talent but as an amplifier and leverage for less skilled people. Somebody who never created a blog post can still ask the AI how a blogpost is written and than feed some bullets to the AI. The AI can be used as force multiplier. AI can tailor educational content for faster, more effective learning, predict which skills will be in demand in the coming years, and even assist on the job, guiding workers through complex tasks until they’re proficient. Furthermore, AI-driven platforms can match individuals’ potential and transferable skills with emerging job roles, bypassing traditional credential requirements and emphasizing capability instead. By harnessing AI, we’re not just bridging the skills gap; we’re reimagining a future where talent and technology converge, ensuring a resilient, adaptive, and skilled global workforce.

An important note at this point

You may have guessed it already, This post was written by AI, we use, GPT-4, and leveraging our Prompt Framing technology. All I had to do is compile a list of things I wanted to talk about and a minute later I had the results. To do the post it required still me (a human) to say I want a post. It required me to give the AI the structure I wanted and the bullet points in order to get this output. And finally the review and some personal touch like this paragraph. All done in about 20 minutes.

The learning for Business Leaders

AI is not just another piece of Software the IT team should get familiar with, but also the most revolutionary organizational innovation instrument since the industrial revolution with its production automation. I use the term instrument very purposefully. Like the conveyor belt changed mass production from the ground up, it needed to be implemented. it needed to be part of the organization and it needed to be part of he company culture. All this was possible with a few drawings, lists, new rules and organization descriptions. Today’s enterprises are so complex and optimized that it needs tools to make it work.

Leading by innovation

It takes leadership to transform a company through a paradigm shift. And this one is far bigger than most expect it to be. Leading by innovation requires the understanding about how AI really works. Neither the “Dooms Day Prophecy” nor the “Click and be done” mentality is helpful in any way.  The future of work lays not in the hands of politicians, scientist or educators. It is in the hands of CEOs. They are the ones that let a company crash or flourish. They need to look into what AI is doing like the farm boys looked at industrialization 200 years ago.

Like the CEO of a car manufacturer knows what cars are, he or she also know what SALES means and how it works, or how FINANCE  ticks and what it means, or how MARKETING does the job. Now there is a quantum leap in organizational management, time management, and results amplification. That requires skilled people we just don’t have – and we don’t need to.

PART III

AI-driven Innovation Paradigm Shift Part III — Organizational Innovation
I noticed that it may be helpful to describe how companies can initiate that paradigm shift, set new goals and empower people to complete far more jobs in the same time by leveraging AI. Also what task can be performed by less educated people and how all that will drive down cost and increase profitability.
