Support for Independent Doctors and Practices

Alo Solutions, a separate company, provides resources to independent physicians to help them make sustainable improvements and decisions regarding value-based care to improve health care for patients and communities. Alo is solely responsible for its services and does not sell Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina products.

Going Paperless with our Online Health Portal1

Blue Connect℠, our member portal, enables members to find doctors and facilities, schedule video visits, manage their plan, communicate with their plan via a secure inbox, see what’s covered and keep all of their plan forms and documents – including claims and explanations of benefits (EOBs) – in one place. As of March 1, 2022, members can go paperless. This means no more physical mail to keep track of, no worries about losing important documents; everything is right there in the member’s online portal. We’re proud to make our members’ experience with us more convenient and more environmentally friendly.

Intuitive Wellness Portal

We worked with Rally Health to develop a wellness portal that employer groups can purchase and make available for their employees. The portal — which went live via Blue Connect on January 1, 2022, and is available to most members — encourages users to develop healthy habits by integrating with technology they’re already using. It turns wellness into a game: Each time the user engages in a healthy activity, they earn incentives, making it easier than ever to turn a goal into a lifestyle habit.

Our Retail Centers

For people who buy individual health insurance or whose employers don’t have an HR department to help them handle health benefits, Blue Cross NC Centers are a great place to find support, get questions answered and get in-person help understanding our offerings and the subsidies and other resources that can help them. We are proud to have kept our retail Centers safely open through the COVID-19 pandemic, making our reliable, friendly service available in-person for people going through job and life changes in an otherwise uncertain time.

Health Plans for Smaller Employers

We’re making it easier for smaller employers, including those who have never offered health insurance before, to understand our plans and offer them to their employees. We’re offering more affordable plans, 1:1 support and streamlined processes to groups of 50 or fewer employees eligible to buy health plans under the Affordable Care Act. Being able to offer health insurance helps small employers remain competitive and attract talent in tight job markets.
